The French Navy honoured the President of our Technical Committee
On 27 June 2025, the CMAS was represented by its Honorary Vice-President, Alain Germain, at the 80th anniversary celebrations of CEPHISMER (the French Navy), which was founded in 1945 by Philippe Tailliez, Jacques-Yves Cousteau (who was also the founding president of the CMAS) and Frédéric Dumas.
CEPHISMER is in charge of testing and developing human and robotic underwater intervention capabilities for mine clearance operations, underwater intervention and experiments related to human diving.
For example, in March 2025, it carried out a saturation dive to 200 m, with an intervention exit using a CCR rebreather.
During the ceremony, which was attended by over 200 people, Alain Foret, Reserve Lieutenant Commander and President of the CMAS Technical Committee, was presented with a Testimony of Satisfaction by Vice-Admiral (OF-8, ****) Christophe Cluzel, Commander of the Naval Action Force, in recognition of :
- his work in the field of decompression, particularly in the implementation of the new military dive computer;
- his research on repetitive and multiple dives;
- his work on the new dive tables for the French Navy (MN 2023);
- strengthening the links between the French Navy and the civilian world, particularly with regard to the World Underwater Federation (CMAS).
Congratulations to our Technical Committee President!
