About the Freediving Medical and Scientific Commission
The Freediving Medical and Scientific Commission is a group of medics and scientists who provide advice to the CMAS Board, the Freediving Commission, and the entire freediving community. The work of the Commission will focus on the following key areas:
- Analysis and research on factors related to health risks (hypoxia, DCS, squeeze, BO, etc.).
- Analysis and research on doping (including substances not yet included on the WADA list.
- Analysis and research on the impact of freediving on physical and mental development, including its positive role in the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities.
- Analysis and research on the potential of freediving in supporting development in other sports (freediving as a valuable preparatory process).
- Optimisation of freediving training processes from a medical and physiological perspective.
