The CMAS 7th Freediving Depth World Championship 2023 in Roatan Honduras

The CMAS 7th Freediving Depth World Championship 2023 in Roatan Honduras in the Caribbean Sea is over, after 4 very successful competition days.

Day 1 (Aug 21) CWT:
The competition started with the discipline of Constant Weight (monofin) where for the first time in the last 11 years, we had two very impressive world records only 5 min apart.

In the men's category and in third position winning the bronze medal we have Arnaud Jerald (FRA) who successfully completed a dive to 126m. Second place and silver medal went to Andrey Matveenko (INT) who performed a world record dive to 134m, only to be broken 5 min later by Alexey Molchanov (INT) who successfully performed his  136m dive and is the absolute World Record Holder of CWT.

In the women's category we have Enchante Gallardo (USA) in third place with a dive to 93m which is a continental record, Alice Modolo (FRA) in second place with a 100m dive, and in first place Alenka Artnik (SVN) who successfully defended her World Champion title, winning the gold medal with a dive to 107m.

Day 2 (Aug 22) FIM:
On the second competition day, in the men's category, world champion in FIM for 2023 is Abdelatif Alouach (FRA) with his dive to 118m followed by Guillaume Bourdila (FRA) who successfully dove to 113m winning the silver medal. Third place and bronze medal went to Andrey Matveenko (INT) for his dive to 111m.

In the women's category, world champion in FIM for 2023 is Kateryna Sadurska (UKR) who successfully defended her title and won the gold medal with a dive to 97m. In second place winning the silver medal, we have Linda Paganelli  (ITA) who performed a dive to 96m, and in third place winning the bronze is Fatima Korok (HUN) with her dive to 94m.

Day 3 (Aug 24) CNF:
On the 3d competition day we had the discipline of CNF, constant weight no fins, which is considered as the most challenging one.

For the men, bronze medal went to Samo Jeranko (SVN) for performing a dive to 82m, followed by Abdelatif Allouach (FRA) who won the silver medal for his dive of 83m.

First place and gold medal went to Alexey Molchanov (INT) for his new World Record dive to 100m.

For the women, Kateryna Sadurska (UKR) is once again World Champion in CNF and absolut world record holder for her amazing dive to 78m, winning of course the gold medal for this discipline. In second place we have Sanda Delija (HRV) with a dive to 71m and in third place winning the bronze medal, we have Enchande Gallardo (USA) with her 63m dive which is a continental record.

Day 4 (Aud 25) CWTB:
On the last day of the championship we had the discipline of CWTB, constant weight with bifins.

In the men's category, World Champion for 2023 is Alexey Molchanov (INT) with his world record dive to 124m, followed by Abdelatif Alouach (FRA) who won the silver medal for his successful 119m dive. Arnaud Jerald, also from France, won the bronze medal with a dive to 118m.

In the women's category, World Champion for 2023 is once again Alena Artnik of Slovenia who won the gold medal for her dive to 101m.

In second place winning the silver medal we have Marianna Gillespie (FRA) with 100m dive, and in third place winning the bronze medal is Sahika Ercumen from Türkiye with a dive to 91m.

In total, at this very successful championship we have witnessed 5 world records being performed, 14 continental records and several master's and national records.

We would like to congratulate all the athletes for their great performances, all the judges and safety divers, the medical team, the organizers, staff and volunteers, for this amazing championship taking place once again at Roatan Honduras.
