Tunisia Instructors Training 2024

From 31 October to 9 November 2024, the city of Monastir in Tunisia hosted the second CMAS/FASST instructor training session, following the 2022 session in Tabarka. This event, organised by the CMAS Technical Committee and in partnership with the Tunisian Federation of Underwater Activities (FASST), brought together participants from various diving centres to train according to the highest CMAS/FASST diving standards.

The session was led by Mr. Rezik Abdelaziz, CMAS Director of Standards and Equivalencies, who was supported by a panel of instructors from Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco, each bringing their expertise and experience. The presence of Mr. Flemming Holm, President of the CMAS Technical Committee, added significant value to this session, reinforcing the organisation's commitment to quality training.

This intensive programme was attended by 32 candidates across different levels of training: 16 M1 candidates, 14 M2 candidates, and 2 M3 candidates. These participants underwent comprehensive training covering a wide range of topics and specialities, enhancing their technical and teaching skills. During the instructor training programme, participants were required to demonstrate their mastery of foundational diving knowledge and expertise across various specialities an essential aspect of achieving high levels of certification within CMAS.

The training included structured practical teaching exercises, simulated teaching scenarios, and in-depth theoretical sessions. Participants benefited from high-quality instruction, which enabled them to consolidate their knowledge and acquire new skills, all in alignment with CMAS international standards.

The training session was a resounding success, illustrating the fruitful collaboration between CMAS and the countries of the Maghreb and Africa as a whole, highlighting the importance of promoting rigorous, high-quality, standardised, and harmonised instructor training in scuba diving.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to FASST and the entire team of the national technical committee, whose outstanding work ensured an excellent level of safety throughout the course. Their commitment and professionalism were crucial to the success of this session.
Our warmest thanks also go to the Grand Bleu Association, which generously provided its headquarters, equipped with state-of-the-art teaching aids, in a pleasant setting conducive to learning. This logistical support significantly enhanced the quality of the training, offering participants an optimal environment.

Finally, our thanks go to the Monastir recreational diving club for its invaluable support in diving activities. Their collaboration was essential in ensuring ideal training conditions.
