CMAS Congratulates Kirsty Coventry on Her Election as IOC President
The Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS) extends its warmest congratulations to Kirsty Coventry on her historic election as the 10th President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). As the first woman and first from the African continent to hold this position, her election marks a significant milestone for the Olympic Movement and international sport.
As a decorated Olympian and a dedicated sports leader, President Coventry has long been an advocate for inclusivity, development, and integrity in sport. Her leadership will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Olympic Movement, fostering greater opportunities for all disciplines including Underwater Sports, which continue to grow and inspire athletes worldwide.
At CMAS, we believe in the power of sport to unite, challenge, and inspire new generations, both above and below the surface. We look forward to working alongside President Coventry in promoting these values and advancing the global recognition of Underwater Sports.
We wish her success in this new chapter and remain confident that her leadership will leave a lasting impact on the future of sport.
