News Alert- Diving and Covid vaccinationconfederation 20.09.2021
For your own safety but also to protect your buddy it is strongly recommended that you should take a Covid-vaccination when it is available.
Most side effects of vaccination range from tenderness or pain or red skin around the injection site, headache, fatigue, myalgia (pain or weakness of the muscles), fever, chills, arthralgia (joint pain), and nausea. All those effects appear within 1 to 4 days and disappear 1 or 2 days after onset. After six days symptoms are very rare.
When there are no notable side effects, you may go diving again 7 days after vaccination.
When there are side effects, wait till 1 day after the symptoms are gone. So, in most cases, this will also be within the 7 days after vaccination.
An extension to 14 days is advised for divers who (i) had side effects persisting for more than 48 hours, they should first seek medical advice, and (ii) plan to do undertake deep/technical decompression diving.
