I. Mediterranean Beach Games 2015 – Pescara, Italy- Day 131.08.2015
The 1st day of the Mediterranean Beach Games 2015 has started with Waterski at 8 am and went until 6 pm with 8 competing teams.
From 9 am until 5pm the Rowing Beach Sprint took place at the Arena del Mare, while Beach Tennis started at 10 am at the Stadio del Mare.
Last but not least, Beach Wrestling, at Arena del Mare from 2 until 5 pm.
The morning Competitions results were as follows:
WATER SKI: Among men the French Daillant Thibaut was the best with the result of 4 buoys with 11.25 meters of rope; the speed was 58 km/h. Davide Napolitano followed with 3 buoys with 11.25 meters of rope; the other Italian Lorenzo D'Alberto instead fell. The Lebanese athlete Chia Salvador undermined first places of ranking, finishing with 3.50 buoys and 12 meters of rope, at a speed of 58 km/h. Today the finalists of the three specialities will be decided.
BEACH TENNIS: the Rounds of 16 of mixed, men's doubles and women's doubles. The Italians took to the field for the first time. At the beginning, the couple Nicole Nobile-Diego Bollettinari defeated with a score of 6-0, 6-1 the Cypriot couple Petros Baghdatis-Marianna Tsakkistou that yesterday won against the Egypt. A good result also for the Republic of San Marino (Nicolò Bombini-Alice Grandi) getting the better of the Egyptians Reehan Rashad-Mohamed Ghoneim in the ground 2 with the result 6-0, 6-0. Celebrations also for the other Italian couple of the mixed (Veronica Casadei-Teo Casadei) which thrilled the audience at Stadio del Mare, beating 2 sets (6-2; 6-0) the Tunisian couple Cyrine Ben Cheikh Boubaker-Slim Gharbi. The morning of the Beach Tennis ended with the match Morocco-Cypro-ending for the first time since the start of the tournament at the tie break service 2-1 (2-6; 6-4; 3-6). The Cypriot mixed couple Antria Tsangaridou-Christopher Koutrouza goes to the next round.
Men's and women’s doubles competitions start at 3 pm while the ICMG President Amar Addadi visits the Stadio del Mare facility.
ROWING BEACH SPRINT: in the second day Italy gained two finals: Carmela Pappalardo shone in women's singles and beat the Tunisian Boulares with a time of 3.28.37. Tomorrow she will face the French Berra, who anticipated the Algerian Chiali with 10 seconds.
Italians were excellent also in women's doubles with the couple Bellio-Paccagnella with 3.16.65 against the Greek Theologi-Tsantekidou. In final the Algerian opposing couple Chiali-Harzallah. Less efficient the Italian national team in the men's Quad, beaten in the semi-finals by the Algerian team that tomorrow will face France in the final.
BEACH WRESTLING: Italy wins the first gold medal in Beach Wrestling. SalvatorePurpura is placed first because the Greek Timofei Xenidis retires. Bronze medal to the Egyptian Moustafa.
In90+Kg win for the Syrian Raja Alkrad, silver medal to Mikheil Tsikovani (Greece), bronze for the SpanishJuan Francisco Espino Diepa. All matches details on the website www.pescara2015.it.
In 70+ Kg women the Egyptian Hamza Samar gets the first place podium. Silver medal to the Greek PitsiavaAikaterini Eirini, bronze medal to the French Jessika Guehaseim.
On Friday 28th August, the French Emilie Dufour won the gold medal in 60 kg during the final against RabiaLamalsa (Algeria). Third place for another Algerian, Amine Benabderrahmane.
In 70 kg women gold medal to the Greek Agoro Papavasileiou while the Italian Nicoletta Loisito is placed fourth.In 70 kg men still a victory for Greece having Apostolos Taskoudis defeated the Algerian Ait Amrane Mehdi,while in 80 kg men silver medal to the Italian Vincenzo Chiara defeated by the Algerian Hadrid Billel during the final. Koulouchidis Georgios (Greece) and Haidari Osman (Albania) finished joint third.
